NO TEASERS, JUST GOOD MUSIC: THE HOSPITAL DROP THEIR DEBUT MUSIC VIDEO

Video will be released this Friday, September 20th, 2024

Quickly following up their debut EP, The Hospital premier their debut music video ‘Won’t Waste My Time On You’ on Youtube this Friday 20th September at midday (UK time).

The music video for ‘Won’t Waste My Time On You’ was filmed in an abandoned hospital turned art studio in King’s Cross, London. The video captures the raw energy and emotion of the song in a setting that perfectly mirrors the project’s emotional themes and artistic nature. To commemorate the experience, The Hospital got the band’s logo tattooed on his palm right there in the art studio, underscoring the deep connection between the music, the visuals, and the artistic journey of The Hospital.

The Hospital are doing things differently for a debut act. In a culture where pre-teasing and TikTok trends have become the norm, The Hospital believes in a return to what really matters—good music and captivating visuals. For their debut EP, “Trying to Fall Asleep,” set to release on Friday, September 13th, 2024, there will be no pre-release snippets, no social media seeding, and no drawn-out hype campaigns. Instead, fans will experience the EP in its entirety on release day.

This bold approach harks back to a time when hearing new music from your favorite band was a full, immersive experience—something that has become increasingly rare in today’s fragmented listening culture. “we don’t want to be teased; they want to listen to good music and watch good music videos,” says The Hospital. As both artists and fans themselves, they are committed to delivering a debut that’s true to those roots, creating a sense of anticipation and excitement reminiscent of the golden days of album releases.

The only people who have heard it are those involved and a handful of new fans who found us earlier this year, we sent them a private preview of one song” shares The Hospital.

In place of tease and hype, the EP will be followed by a series of official music video releases on YouTube.  These aren’t throw-aways either, each video holds as much purpose and creativity as the songs themselves. The Hospital’s decision to forgo traditional marketing tactics speaks to their confidence in the music itself and their respect for their audience’s desire for a genuine, unfiltered experience. This EP is not just a collection of songs—it’s a deliberate statement on how music should be shared and celebrated.

With “Trying to Fall Asleep,” The Hospital invites fans to step into a world where the music speaks for itself.

The EP tells a story of all the things that stop us from sleeping, the people, the parties, the relationships, and the anxiety. On the origin behind the EP, The Hospital says, “I have a real longing for life… a part of me knows I need to sleep, but the overdriving part of me wants to live. We wanted ‘Trying To Fall Asleep’ to feel like a romanticised memory, of which you’re not sure if the nuances you remember are exactly how it happened, but it’s what you take from it, and I think we created the perfect feeling of how dynamic life can be.”

Musically, the EP is full of compelling and dynamic juxtapositions “the melodies are happy and the tracks are upbeat, but we want the lyrics to always feel emotional and honest. The juxtaposition is imperative to the story”  The songs themselves are cleverly layered where everything plays off of something else beautifully.

Although brand new, The Hospital have worked with some talented collaborators on this project, including music producer Pete Hutchings (Royal Blood), and video director Tim Nathan (Royel Otis).
