GRAMMY-nominated multi-disciplinary artist, FKA twigs, announced the upcoming release of her highly-anticipated third studio album, EUSEXUA releasing on January 24, 2025. The album arrives alongside the album’s official pre-order and the visual for the album’s title track. The announcement also comes on the heels of the EUSEXUA album trailer released last week. FKA twigs also kicks off the official unveiling of a major new work of art by twig’s at Sotheby’s London running from today through the 26th of September.
Staged over two weeks in Sotheby’s New Bond Street galleries, The Eleven, will bring twigs’ fiercely independent creative vision to the forefront of the contemporary art scene. The Eleven is a durational artwork, conceived by twigs and performed by a rotating group of eleven ‘movers.’ The piece, developed by twigs over many months, is a physical and artistic quest for self-healing, rooted – in part – in her decades spent in movement practice, somatic healing technique, and by implementing conscious action on repeat. Twigs herself will participate alongside a changing cast of special guests. They will embody the method and record in real time the changes they feel in their mind and body.
What is ‘eusexua’? Eusexua is a state of being. A feeling of momentary transcendence often evoked by art, music, sex, and unity. Eusexua can be followed by a sure of bliss and feelings of limitless possibility. Also used to refer to: The pinnacle of Human Experience. Eusexua is the moment right before an orgasm. Eusexua is melding into one being with the perfect stranger you’re making out with. Eusexua is losing track of time while losing yourself on the dance floor. Eusexua is the rush of inspiration that accompanies the birth of an idea. Eusexua can be many things to many people. It’s a nebulous concept, ever-evolving with those who experience it. But it is united through any moment in which we are fully embodying ourselves, present in the moment, disconnected from technology, synthesized with those around us. It was moments of Eusexua that birthed EUSEXUA the album, as twigs cites her late nights in the underground techno scene of Prague while shooting The Crow as the main inspiration for the project. Despite the gap between projects, FKA twigs has stayed as active as humanely possible. She kicked off the summer with her appearance in Paris at VOGUE World 2024 donning Alexandre Vauthier as she walked the runway. She followed up with her appearance in the highly-anticipated gothic film, ‘The Crow’ alongside Bill Skarsgård. Later this month, FKA twigs, in support of her creative directing ON Sneakers’ latest campaign, will have an immersive experience in London on September 16th, with FKA twigs and Arthur de Borman providing the stage design to display the new pieces. The collection highlights high-performance pieces that allow for the highest level of movement, which are presented under the slogan ‘The body is art’. The British actress makes her debut as a creative director and takes the reins of the campaign to capture her passion for dance and focus on the power of self-expression.
ABOUT FKA TWIGS
Born in Cheltenham, England, Tahliah Debrett Barnett, known by her artist name FKA twigs, hails from a diverse background. Her English mother and Jamaican father, both artists in their own right, laid the foundation for her artistic journey. Twigs has fast risen to prominence as one of the most celebrated pop artists of her generation. A multifaceted talent, twigs is a singer-songwriter, professional dancer, actress, and model. Her self-made and unique creativity has earned her countless awards and nominations; she embodies the culture of the last decade—a fusion of music, cinema, art, and fashion. Her persona is art, and her life story is woven into her artistry.
Raised in a small town, Twigs attended a private Catholic school on an academic scholarship. From a young age, she immersed herself in opera and ballet lessons, later venturing into music production in youth clubs at the age of 16. At 17, she relocated to London to pursue a career in dance. A dedicated philanthropist and visual savant, in 2023, she created an original art piece for “The Wild Escape” project with the Art Fund, advocating for youth in the arts. Today, she serves as the ambassador of Sistah Space, a charity supporting survivors of domestic violence of black origin in the UK, helping establish the first safe house for women of black origin.
Twigs’ music catapulted her to international acclaim, garnering not only awards and prizes but also a global fan base. Her mixtape CAPRISONGS, released in 2022, culminated in her receiving the NME’s Godlike Genius Award, making her the youngest recipient to date. Recently, twigs graced the cover of British Vogue and made her solo debut as a dancer with the Martha Graham Company, performing “Satyric Festival Song” at the company’s 98th season Gala in New York. On April 25th in London, FKA twigs received the prestigious award for outstanding contribution to UK Music by the Music Producers Guild. A nominee as a commercials director and an awardee as a music producer, Twigs effortlessly traverses various artistic realms. Additionally, she stars alongside Bill Skarsgård in a modern adaptation of ‘THE CROW,’ directed by Rupert Sanders, released this past August. Twigs shows no signs of slowing down, gearing up for the launch of her next album and a lifetime of creative endeavors.
