Continuing to push the momentum as we gear up for his forthcoming mixtape, London’s very own trailblazer Arz has enlisted fellow genre-bending newcomer Laicositna for his latest release, “Lickback”. Following in line from the May release “Hostage”, alongside “Long Time No See”, Arz’s seamless use of textured beats and heart-wrenching lyricism has pushed him to the forefront of Black British music.
Posing as one of the first artists to fuel the ever-growing lo-fi sound in the UK in recent times, Arz has become a blueprint for many aspiring rappers across the nation. Calling on MADEINPARRIS and JD for production, “Lickback” explores the negative tendencies surrounding gen-z and love.
With popular social media platforms pushing narratives and expectations in modern-day dating, the toxicity levels are slowly rising, “On this track me and bro touch on revenge. Everyone’s got this mindset of if I get done dirty I’m going to do it back. So we approached the song like we had just completed our Lickback”, Arz commented. Speaking on behalf of many in his age-group, “Lickback” showcases Arz’s honesty through personal experience.
