17-year-old Chenayder shares her new single “Teen Heartbreak.” The new song arrives with a video directed by Legit Looks (Lisa Torres and Eric Bastiani), portraying Chenayder flashing back to a myriad of settings including hanging with friends, attending a school dance, and spinning, literally and figuratively, with a crush. “Teen Heartbreak” showcases Chenayder’s tender side as she explores the complicated feelings of young love and provides a taste of a larger project set to arrive in mid-July.
Chenayder recently sat with Okayplayer for their First Look Friday series to discuss her influences, how she began writing music, and her recently released singles “Colors” featuring North Carolina’s Mavi and “For One Last Time.” Read the full piece HERE.
On July 17th, Chenayder will perform at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn, New York alongside Ovrkast for the Move Forward Music x Pigeons & Planes hosted show. Tickets are available HERE.
As Chenayder utilized hall passes in her Orlando high school to discreetly slip away to the restroom and capture TikTok renditions of her songs, her stardom soared over the past year. The then-sophomore student garnered recognition from idols appearing on every teen’s bucket list such as SZA and Tyler, The Creator. May 2023 saw the release of her debut EP Blue Oblivion, which includes the track “Strawberry Perfume” and was followed up with her stand-alone single “Goodbye.”
Each of the aforementioned songs earned support from influential playlists like Spotify’s Pollen, R&B Weekly, Indie Frequency, On Repeat, and Vanguard. These early testaments to Chenayder’s talent hint at the undeniable potential of the budding Haitian-American artist who is balancing her studies with her burgeoning music career.
