Following a transformative 2023 which marked the unveiling of their debut mixtape ‘DEMODE’ (accumulating almost a million combined streams across DSPs), London-based alternative rap trio Frozemode are back with their latest single, “ASBO BOYS”.
This audacious release is a testament to the group’s unwavering resilience and creative prowess. Drawing inspiration from their own experiences and fueled by a relentless passion for music, they infuse “ASBO BOYS” with innovative production (produced by Luke Fitton), the raw energy of punk and the rhythmic poetry of rap, creating a track that’s a rebellious anthem pulsating with attitude and urgency. “ASBO BOYS” firmly lays the foundation for Frozemode to serve a rich blend of their personal experiences through their unshackled flow.
In their own words, “We are good Christian boys, but some girl online said we looked like we had ASBOs so we made a track about it and all the other mad comments we’ve received. God bless, Amen. Xx.” This candid glimpse into Frozemode’s creative process showcases their dedication to authenticity and fearlessly embracing their identity.
Since bursting onto the scene in 2023, Frozemode (comprising I.V.GATLIN, Cho-Hollo, and Lisong) has captivated audiences worldwide with their distinctive style. Their debut single “Maybelline” garnered immediate attention, earning them spots on BBC Radio 1 shows such as Jack Saunders’ “Future Artists” and Nels Hylton’s “Future Alternative,” alongside support from Alyx Holcombe on BBC Introducing Rock. Their tracks have also received extensive airplay on Prospect Radio, Radio Reverb, Radio X, Slack City Radio, and others, while earning praise from publications including BBC, NME, COMPLEX, CLASH, WONDERLAND, NOTION, CULTED, NME, DORK, DIY, WHY NOW, and KERRANG!
Frozemode celebrates their latest release alongside the triumphant conclusion of an impressive streak of 54 shows, marking a testament to their dedication and stage prowess. Their journey has seen them sharing platforms with esteemed artists such as Jelani Blackman, gracing Fabric’s “Live & Direct” night, and delivering standout performances at prestigious festivals including 2000trees and Reading & Leeds. Embarking on a UK-wide tour alongside popular US acts Joey Valance & Brae has also solidified their position as one of the most captivating acts in today’s dynamic music landscape.
Although already homing a rather impressionable space in the live circuit, the band continue on their frenzied journey to being the most exciting live act to stir the undercurrents of the UK soundscape with forthcoming performances at The Great Escape, Radio 1’s Big Weekend (BBC Introducing Stage), Download Festival, Deer Shed Festival, Barnstomper Festival and return visits to 2000trees and Reading & Leeds, where they’ll be leaping onto the impressive BBC Radio 1 Stage.
As each release unfolds, Frozemode’s presence in the UK music scene continues to expand, heralding a transition from beloved favourites to commanding pioneers poised to dominate 2024 and beyond.
