MOBO nominated artist Strandz has dropped the boisterous and self-assured track ‘Attention’. Over a punchy and playful beat, Strandz comes straight out the gate swinging. Mixing lyricism covering aspiration, ambition and destiny the track is quintessential Strandz.
With the aptly named new single, Strandz has announced the release date of his highly anticipated and much hinted at debut project ’No Time’. Out today, 28th March, it is an encapsulation of the journey Strandz has been on in the past 3 years. Filled with self-reflection, the need for unshakable personal confidence and the all important support from friends, family and his girlfriend Lola. The key to Strandz’ success is the ultimate dedication to his craft: production, writing and performance. All of which is by his hand, the inspiration however comes from his friends and collaborators.
Attention is about bringing the ladies and guys together in the dance, something everyone can sing as one. Lyrically I try to highlight the emotional miscommunication often seen in couples of this generation where the guy thinks the girl wants materialistic tokens of love and sacrifices time to afford them when really all she wants is his time.
‘Attention’ is the last single before the project and follows on from recent hit, ‘No Peace, No Time’, which is currently sitting at 2.5m total streams in its first few weeks of release. The track also comes in the midst of his England and Ireland tour of the same name which has seen him perform to thousands of fans and ready to finish in London on Tuesday (19th) at Lafayette, tickets here. Aptly Strandz filmed his Us Against The World (remix) visual at the Kings Cross venue, bringing his last year full circle.
‘No Peace No Time’ amassed 11k video creations and proved Strandz keen ability to make music that resonates.

At the age of 14, Strandz got a job in a local music studio in Croydon, using his wages to pay for his own studio time. Strandz learnt to engineer and in 2015 he met the likes of Stormzy & Ruff Squad. This dedication saw him learn to play the piano for his BRIT School audition and secure a spot. Strandz’s creative hot streak kicked off with a string of singles in 2020. He carved out a sound that channels the luxurious feel of ‘00s hip-hop and R&B, but refreshes it with experimental flourishes and contemporary production techniques.
Strandz was born in Hamburg to a German mother and a Nigerian father. The family moved to Lagos and then to Nnobi, a village in South Nigeria. His close family then relocated to South London with little money. Strandz was struck by the social divisions created by the British class system, a sharp contrast to the nurturing community spirit he experienced in Nigeria. Strandz’ sound and passion for music stems from a truly eclectic sonic upbringing (the likes of Fela Kuti, Quincy Jones, Feist), whilst being deeply inspired by what existed across the pond on the east coast in the 90s & 2000s.
Over the last 12 months Strandz has not stopped and was brought out by the likes of Digga D at Glastonbury Festival (as well as at The Royal Albert Hall, supported Wu-Tang Clan & Nas and Tion Wayne at Reading & Leeds – wowing fans, naturally, with his own sets at both festivals. He featured on the soundtrack for the latest season of Netflix’s Top Boy, sat front row at MAINS’ debut London Fashion Week show by personal invitation from Skepta as well as attending shows by Labrum, Robyn Lynch & Saul Nash.
Strandz’s star is rising at a meteoric rate.
