“Polished and meticulously crafted, but also brimming with emotional resonance and raw honesty.” – Wonderland
The soul-bearing ‘Dream Life’ presents a stripped-back moment of intimacy from the Manchester songstress. Backed by a soothing choir, jazzy, Latin-infused acoustic guitar, and a gentle, shuffling groove, Lusaint pines over lost lives and unseized opportunities. “Wish I could live my dream life / the one that got way”, she sings on a wistful, bittersweet chorus.
Commenting on the meaning behind her lyrics, Lusaint says, “‘Dream Life’ is something I believe everyone will feel at some point in their life. Getting away from your everyday life to experience a new start but recognising the grass isn’t always greener.”
The track follows Lusaint’s ‘Fool For You’, and powerful lead single ‘Dark Horse’, which received support from BBC Introducing Manchester and Victoria Jane, Future Artists and Dean & Vicky on BBC Radio 1 amongst other tastemakers. ‘Dream Life’ is another glimpse of the Mancunian songstress’ debut EP self sabotage, set for release next year. With more EP singles on the way, Lusaint will be headlining a show at Crazy Croqs in London on January 30th, having recently provided support for Franky Wah.
With over 50 million streams globally, Manchester-based singer-songwriter Lusaint’s distinctive music has captured hearts since her 2019 breakthrough with its melodic blend of jazz and blues influences.
Lusaint’s talents will have their fullest expression yet on her debut EP, self sabotage, releasing in summer 2024 and produced by Blue May, who has worked with Joy Crookes, Jorja Smith, Lily Allen and Kano.
The songstress has come a long way since her breakthrough in 2019, a year in which she broke the daily record for most Shazams in 24 hours. Since then, acoustic covers of Beyoncé’s ‘Crazy In Love’ and ‘Wicked Game’ by Chris Isaak have drawn acclaim, with the latter hitting over 11 million YouTube views, and in 2022, she made a scene-stealing appearance on Franky Wah’s ‘Find Out Who We Are’.
Such success has led to collaborations with glamorous brands including Dior, Alighieri Jewellery; and a London Fashion Week 2023 appearance, and in the press she hasbeen championed by publications such as Wonderland Magazine and About Time, while DSP playlist support has included Spotify’s NMF UK, Apple Music’s New In Pop, Deezer’s Breaking UK, Amazon Music’s Finely Tuned and TikTok’s ‘New Music’. Radio support has come from the likes of BBC Radio 1’s Future Soul: Victoria Jane, Future Artists and Dean + Vicky (Daytime), multiple spins on BBC Introducing: Manchester including a Producer’s Pick for ‘Fool For You’, and spots on BBC Local Radio Playlist: A List across 39 stations.
Lusaint’s music has also appeared on TV shows including Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, Love Island and MTV and VH1 in Italy, while on the touring circuit, she has headlined prestigious UK venues including The Troubadour and Notting Hill Arts Club.
Building more anticipation for her debut EP self sabotage, ‘Dream Life’ is another shining example of the show-stopping vocals and heart-stopping songwriting of Lusaint.
