The D&B producer is one of the most eye-catching new dance acts of recent years
Drum & Bass artist 1991 returns with the high-octane new single ‘Cyclone’ featuring Mugatu, out now on Chaos Records.
Built around rasping percussion, arpeggiated guitar and unforgettable hooks from rising vocalist Mugatu, ‘Cyclone’ is a powerful, euphoric D&B anthem. “You got my head spun up like a cyclone”, goes the repeated refrain as the chorus erupts against a stunning melodic synthscape.
1991’s dialogue with the dancefloor gets louder with every release, forever finding the sweet spot between classic and futuristic sounds. ‘Cyclone’ is his followup to ‘Worlds Apart’ with Goodboys, which is already approaching two million streams, as well as ‘Horizon’, released in late 2023 and supported by Jack Saunders & Charlie Tee on Radio 1 alongside a slew of D&B DJs/producers.
‘Cyclone’ marks 1991’s third release since signing a major record deal with Chaos Records, continuing a big year for the artist. Having toured Australia and New Zealand with headline performances over winter, 1991 embarked on the biggest drum and bass tour to hit North America in March with WORSHIP artists Sub Focus, Dimension and Culture Shock.
A vibrant fusion of hooky melodics, heady emotions and high impact production, 1991’s contemporary signature continues to take him around the world, while leading to remixes of stadium-filling electronic acts such as Supermode, Axwell and Basement Jaxx. Racking up over one million streams in three weeks, the immense reaction to 1991’s latest remix of Mason vs. Princess Superstar’s ‘Perfect (Exceeder)’ is testament to the buzz around 1991’s music right now.
With ‘Cyclone’, 1991 confirms his position as one of the most exciting breakout acts of recent years.
